IIoT Gateways with Ignition Edge Onboard™

While you can download and purchase Ignition Edge™ IIoT directly at the Ignition™ website, many users like the convenience of having it already pre-installed and licensed when they purchase their hardware. With the Ignition Edge™ Onboard program, you also get significant savings by bundling the software with our IIoT gateway. Contact us to get a quote and lead time – we are confident you will find both extremely attractive!

Moxa + Ignition™

One of the easiest and most cost-effective ways to get data from remote equipment is to use a Moxa IIoT gateway with Ignition Edge Onboard™. With a Moxa gateway, you get proven industrial-grade hardware and robust built-in communication features including Verizon™ and AT&T™ LTE connectivity. With Ignition Edge Onboard™, you get a powerful platform for PLC data collection within a modern MQTT or Ignition™ architecture. Together, you have a highly flexible solution to collect data from nearly any remote asset in any location, regardless of manufacturer or vendor.

Modern Platform

Since Ignition Edge™ IIoT includes driver support for Allen Bradley™, Siemens™, Modbus RTU/TCP, Omron™, DNP3, OPC UA, UDP/TCP, and serial devices, you no longer need to maintain separate protocol converters or proprietary communications modules for specific devices. Ignition’s™ easy-to-use tools allow you to quickly generate tags and publish those tags to an MQTT or Sparkplug™ broker. The modern publish/subscribe architecture is far easier to deploy and scale to hundreds of sites compared to traditional polling methods. Ignition Edge Onboard™ also supports one week local storage of tag history, alarms, and audit logs, which can be optionally expanded. The Store and Forward feature ensures that data will be published even if cellular coverage drops out unexpectedly.

Proven Rugged Design

With thousands of units already in the field making equipment data available on demand, Moxa IIoT gateways are a proven commodity for industrial users. They have been specifically designed for the industrial edge, so they are completely at home in hot, dusty panels alongside PLCs and other equipment. Board-level thermal design with low power consumption allows units to support an astonishing -40 to 70°C operating temperature range without additional cooling fans or heaters. International hazardous location certifications including Class 1 Div 2 also come standard.

Drop-In Remote Connectivity

With their compact size, built-in LTE connectivity, and power-efficient ARM CPU, Moxa IIoT gateways are a very cost effective solution to access PLC data from nearly any remote location, especially when you have highly distributed assets with limited access to communications. They are certified for Verizon™ or AT&T™ networks and include options for dual SIM and integrated Wi-Fi failover. Network and cellular settings are easily managed using a web browser, where you can also set up communication via Modbus TCP, MQTT, Sparkplug™ B, AWS™, Azure™, and OpenVPN™. The extremely low power consumption means Moxa IIoT gateways can even run on solar and battery power.

Full Platform Control

Each Moxa IIoT gateway is an off-the-shelf, programmable Linux computer designed and certified for industrial use and communication. You have full and unrestricted control of the unit via command line access to the Debian™-based operating system. With zero proprietary restrictions or licensing fees, you are free to program the unit yourself, purchase a unit with Ignition Edge Onboard™, or install other software of your choice.
